The original Isles of Scilly Sea Fisheries Committee was formed in December 1970 under the Sea Fisheries Regulation Act 1966 following a campaign by local fisherman and lifeboat coxswain Matt Lethbridge.
In 2011 the Isles of Scilly Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority (IFCA) was established on the 1st April 2011 under the Marine and Coastal Access Act (2009).
