Tom Hooper

Tom joined the IFCA in February 2018. He was formerly the project manager of Finding Sanctuary, the regional project that worked with stakeholders to design the network of MCZs around South West England. He spent many years working on fisheries projects in the Western Indian Ocean and most recently specialising in MPA planning and design.

Ricky Pender

Ricky joined the IFCA in June 2018. He has worked as a trawler fisherman and potter on the Isles of Scilly and on survey vessels around the world. Between 2010 and 2013 he was an Honorary Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Officer.

Our Vessel

The patrol vessel is a Humber 7m Ocean Pro and was commissioned to be fit for purpose for its role in Scillonian waters. She is named ?Matt Lethbridge’ in honour of the man who campaigned for the creation of the Isles of Scilly Sea Fisheries Committee through the 1960s. She is powered by twin Yamaha 80hp four-stroke outboards giving a top speed in excess of 30 knots. The vessel has a permanent deep water mooring in St. Mary’s harbour.
